Heath Ledger noticed the unique characteristics of the joker, and how it’s quite difficult to adapt to it on screen.
So, he actually resolved to lock himself up in a hotel room in order to get into character and adjust his personality to that of the joker.
It took him a whole month in that hotel room to be ready and shoot his first scene.
You can imagine how difficult it is do so.
But, somehow, Ledger knew that such endeavors would not be in vain. May he rest in peace.
