Actors make all kind of drastic changes to fit the roles they play.
Some grow beards, some lose weight, and others shave their heads.
Remember what Christian Bale did for The Machinist?
Bale dropped his bodyweight from 173 pounds to 110 pounds and wanted to go lower. The producers, however, stopped him in fear for his health.
It’s expected from movie stars to go to these lengths in order to portray a character in the right light.
It takes dedication to do so, and the audience definitely appreciates what they do.
What James McAvoy did, on the other hand, is a different kind of case.
Am I Supposed to Have Hair?
James McAvoy knew that Charles Xavier will be bald, and he wanted to see what it would look like to be him.
So, on the first day of shooting, he went to the set with a shining bald scalp. It looked quite adequate for the role.
However, the producers told him that the character needs to have hair in the prequel.
So, to mend the situation, McAvoy had to wear hair extensions and start shooting the movie.
He kept on doing so for the first month of filming; and even had to wear extensions in the second film, as Xavier grew his hair a bit longer later on.
Bet you didn’t know that much about what went behind Charles Xavier, did you?
